Terms & conditions
What Eduviq does, who may use it, how bookings and money work, and what each side owes the other.

Who we are, and what Eduviq does
Eduviq is a marketplace for one-to-one tuition. We introduce students to tutors, let you agree a time and a place, take the payment, and give both sides the tools to run the lesson. We do not employ tutors and we do not teach. Every tutor on Eduviq is an independent professional who sets their own rate and decides which lessons to accept.
These terms apply to everyone who uses Eduviq — students, the parents and guardians who book on their behalf, and tutors. Using the site or the app means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the service.
Some things live in their own documents because they are long enough to deserve one. The Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data. The Cancellation & Refund Policy sets out exactly what a cancellation costs and what comes back. Both are part of these terms.
Who may use Eduviq
You need an account to book or to teach, and accounts are created with Google sign-in. One person, one account: do not share your login, and tell us straight away if you think somebody else has used it.
Students under 18 are welcome, and most of ours are — but the account, the booking and the payment must belong to a parent or guardian, who is agreeing to these terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for what happens under the account. If you are under 18, do not create an account yourself.
Tutors must be legally entitled to work in India and must be able to prove who they are. Verification is a condition of appearing in search or receiving a booking, not a formality: we ask for government photo ID, proof of qualification, and where relevant proof of employment, and we may ask again.
Booking a lesson
A booking is a request until a tutor accepts it. Asking for a lesson does not commit a tutor to teaching it, and a request that nobody accepts expires on its own — you are not charged for it.
Lessons are one-to-one. At-home lessons run at the address you give when you book; online lessons run in the Eduviq classroom. An at-home lesson runs for at least an hour, because a tutor is travelling to you for it.
Once a tutor accepts, both of you are expected to turn up at the time agreed. If plans change, cancel or ask to reschedule through Eduviq rather than privately, so the other side is actually told and the money is settled correctly.
Prices, payment and our fee
Every price you see is the full price for that lesson, shown before you pay. Tutors set what they earn; Eduviq's fee sits on top of that and is included in the figure you are quoted. There is nothing added afterwards.
Payment is taken when you book, but not collected until the lesson is confirmed: we place a hold on your card for the amount of the booking, and it is only actually charged once a tutor has accepted. If nobody accepts, the hold is released and you keep the money. Depending on your bank, a released hold can take a few days to disappear from your statement.
Tutors are paid for the lessons they teach, after our fee, into the account they give us. We may hold a payout while a dispute, a safety report or a suspected breach of these terms is being looked into.
Prices can change. A change never affects a booking you have already made.
Cancelling, rescheduling and not turning up
What a cancellation costs depends on how much notice the tutor gets, and it is set out in full in our Cancellation & Refund Policy. In short: the closer to the lesson you cancel, the more of it the tutor keeps, and inside the last two hours there is no refund. Tutors who cancel late, or who do not turn up, pay a penalty and you are refunded in full.
There is no free cancellation window, and that is deliberate: booking a tutor takes an hour out of their week the moment you do it.
What each side owes the other
Tutors: teach the lesson you accepted, turn up on time and prepared, behave professionally, and keep to the law and to any safeguarding rules that apply to teaching children. Tell us if you cannot make a lesson as soon as you know.
Students, parents and guardians: give an accurate address and an accurate description of what you need, be there at the agreed time, and treat your tutor with the courtesy you would want. Where a lesson is at home, provide a safe and appropriate space for it.
Everyone: keep what you learn about the other person to yourself. Contact details, addresses and anything about a child are shared with you for the lesson and for nothing else.
Things you must not do
Do not take a relationship that started on Eduviq off it. Arranging or paying for lessons privately with a tutor or student you met here, to avoid our fee, is the one thing that makes this marketplace unworkable for the people who do play fair — accounts that do it can be suspended and any pending payout withheld.
Do not misrepresent who you are, your qualifications or your experience. Do not create an account for somebody else, or a second account after we have closed one.
Do not harass, threaten, discriminate against or endanger anyone. Do not use Eduviq for anything unlawful, and do not send anyone here material that is abusive, obscene or infringing.
Do not attack the service: no scraping, no automated bulk access, no attempts to reach data that is not yours, and no interference with the site, the app or the classroom. Legitimate security research is welcome — the contact for it is published at /.well-known/security.txt.
Your content, and ours
Anything you write or upload — a profile, a note, a whiteboard, a review — stays yours. You give us permission to store it and to show it to the people it is meant for, which for a tutor profile or a review means publicly.
Reviews must be honest and must describe a lesson that actually happened. We may remove content that breaks these terms, and we may remove a review that is not about the tuition.
The site, the app, the Eduviq name and the way it all looks are ours. Please do not copy them.
Safety, and the limits of what we can promise
We verify identity and qualifications before a tutor can be booked, and we give both sides a way to report a problem during or after a lesson. But we are not present at the lesson: we cannot guarantee the quality of teaching, an outcome in an exam, or the conduct of another user. Eduviq is provided as it is.
Where the law allows us to limit our liability, we limit it to the amount you paid for the booking the problem concerns. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not permit us to exclude.
If something goes wrong in a lesson, or you feel unsafe, use the report option in the app or write to us. Emergencies are for the emergency services first, and us second.
Suspending or closing an account
You can delete your account at any time, from your profile or from the delete-account page. Deleting it removes your personal details; we keep the minimum record of completed bookings and payments that tax and accounting law requires us to keep, and the other side of a lesson you taught or took will still see that it happened.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that we believe is being used fraudulently, or where we are required to. Where we can, we will tell you why.
Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as Eduviq changes. The date at the top of this page always says when they last changed, and material changes will be told to you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Eduviq after a change means you accept the new version.
Law, disputes and how to reach us
These terms are governed by the law of India, and the courts of Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Almost everything is quicker to settle by writing to us first, so please do that before anything else.
The other documents
Read these alongside the Privacy Policy and the Cancellation & Refund Policy. Questions about any of them go to support@eduviq.com.
